About the author:
Having spent his entire life as an active part of New York's organized crime, Girard was characterized by the New York Post as "...a middle echelon member" of one of New York's five mob families. After a number of arrests he was eventually sentenced to three years in NY State prison as a result of being targeted by New York's Organized Crime Control Bureau and was later convicted of racketeering, under the RICO statute, by Rudolph Giuliani's office, and sentenced to seven years in federal prison. During that last term Girard became interested in writing. Along with another inmate who had sold a manuscript to a major publisher, Girard helped form a fiction writers' workshop. It was during that time that he completed his first novel, BLOOD OF OUR FATHERS, first published by Pocket/Simon & Schuster. He has gone on to publish a number of mob related books and can be contacted through his website: www.SonnysMobCafe.com
Sins of Our Sons
Not since Mario Puzo's Godfather has a novel so passionately captured the soul of organized crime as did mob insider Sonny Girard's astounding debut, Blood of Our Fathers. Now Girard brings us the extraordinary successor, an explosive drama of the changes rocking the American Mafia...
In one swift stroke, an assassin's bullet elevated Mickey Boy Messina from foot soldier to boss of the Calabra Crime Family - and left him with a legacy of pain and confusion. Now Mickey Boy is walking a delicate line, caught between the thrill of a power he never dreamed would be his, and Frank Halloran, a rock-hard parole officer determined to bring him down; between Don Peppino Palermo, a treacherous old Sicilian boss scheming to change the face of New York's organized crime, and Laurel, Mickey Boy's smart, sexy, no-nonsense wife. For her sake - and for the sake of Hope, the baby daughter he prayed for to end his line of mob inheritance - Mickey Boy is filled with a new ambition: to lead his people away from their criminal tradition and into the legitimate world. But in a dark society laced with misplaced trusts, and peppered with sudden and violent revenge, the road into daylight has always been paved with blood and sorrow...
