Dennis Hooker Zanshin and Ma-ai in Aikido

5/22/14 It is with a sad heart that I've learned of Hooker Sensei's passing. My deepest condolences to Connie, his children, and members of his dojo. I was honored to know him and will miss him. Shari Dyer

Dennis Hooker Sensei, 6th Degree Black Belt (now 7th) and Chief Instructor of Shindai Dojo, Orlando Florida, addresses the basic principals of connection, timing and spacial relationships in Aikido. Using emply hand techniques and well as use of the short staff and sword to illustrate these concepts, Hooker Sensei teaches with wonderful clarity and purpose. His teaching will stay with the student long after watching this seminar.

Credit correction: Principal Uke is Tim Magill, not Tim Magee. Our sincere apologies go to Mr. Magill for the spelling mistake.

It is refreshing to observe a DVD on aikido where the instructor is so matter of fact in conveying important budo theory.

Hooker sensei competently demonstrates how what appears to be passive is actually active, and that this type of engagement is a superior means of applying technique.

This video produced by Keigan Productions is excellent. It is well lit, filmed, edited and the sound quality very good.
