Writers on Writing - Michael Patrick King (two-disc set)
Michael Patrick King is best known as the writer/director and executive producer of the HBO series Sex and the City. For his work on that show he has received three Golden Globe Awards for best comedy series as well as the Emmy® Award for best comedy series, the Emmy® Award for best direction and numerous Writers Guild and Directors Guild Award nominations.
His television career began when he joined the writing staff of Murphy Brown during the infamous Dan Quayle year. His latest television credit is the Emmy® nominated but short-lived HBO series The Comeback, which he created with and for Lisa Kudrow, and which has become a cult favorite.
King started his career in NYC as a playwright and a stand-up comic. His plays have been produced in New York, Los Angeles and at the Aspen Comedy Festival. He was the artistic director of arcade... a performance space that he founded in Los Angeles dedicated to launching new and exciting work. In 2008 he wrote and directed his first film, the romantic comedy blockbuster Sex and the City.
