Russell Targ & Stephan Schwartz - A Tribute to Hella Hammid: The First Woman Remote Viewer (IRVA 2009)

Russell Targ and Stephan Schwartz, two who knew her exploits best, describe the life and success stories of pioneer remote viewer Hella Hammid. Hella was recruited by the SRI remote viewing program to be a "control" subject - a participant with no known ESP skills to provide a baseline against which to measure the performance of more presumably "gifted" remote viewers. As Targ and Schwartz relate, much to everyone's surprise Hella turned out to be among the best. Her newly-discovered abilities made her a desirable asset to the research at SRI and to many practical applications to which remote viewing was put. Among these were many remote viewings done for Stephan Schwartz's successful archaeological projects and other famous episodes in remote viewing history. Targ and Schwartz give a biographical sketch of Hella's life, and show actual data from many of her success stories.

Russell Targ is a physicist and author who was a co-founder of the Stanford Research Institute's investigation into psychic abilities in the 1970s and 1980s. He is co-author of eight books dealing with the scientific investigation of psychic abilities, Buddhism, and a recent autobiography. In 1998 Targ retired from Lockheed Martin as a senior staff scientist, and now pursues ESP research in Palo Alto, California, and is also publishing special editions of classic books in psychical research.

Stephan Schwartz has been an author and researcher of extraordinary human performance for more than 30 years, focusing on anthropology and parapsychology. He is one of the founders of modern remote viewing, and the author of the classic books, The Secret Vaults of Time, The Alexandria Project, and Remote Viewing: The Art and Science of Nonlocal Awareness, and Opening to the Infinite.

Russell Targ and Stephan Schwartz serve on the Board of Directors of the International Remote Viewing Association.
