About the author:
Born Clarence Seward Darrow on April 18th, 1857 in Kinsman Township, Trumbull County, Ohio, he was an American lawyer and leading member of the American Civil Liberties Union, best known for defending teenage thrill killers Leopold and Loeb in their trial for murdering 14-year-old Bobby Franks (1924) and defending John T. Scopes in the so-called "Monkey" Trial (1925), in which he opposed the famous statesman William Jennings Bryan.

He remains notable for his wit, compassion, and agnosticism that marked him as one of the most famous American lawyers and civil libertarians.

He died on March 13th, 1938, just a month short of his 81st birthday.
