About the author:
Heather Breo is an actress, classically trained singer and historical costumer who, in her off-time, is trying to become a published author. She has written five novels so far, and is hard at work on three others-though this is the first she's tried to publish. Correspondence can be addressed to: seamstressofavalon@yahoo.com

A Real Boy

Authored by Heather Breo

In the near future, robots perform tasks which are considered too dangerous to risk human life. One member of the "Automated Workforce", Beta York 35, awakens after a tragedy that kills several comrades to find that he feels sorrow and anger over the role his race is confined to: "disposable people". He knows that his new feelings could be the most significant evolution anyone, man or machine has ever made, and something must be done about it. For Lila Morgan it begins with a robot intruder who quotes Shakespeare and confesses that he has an unprecedented malfunction: emotional awareness. He tells her he will be reprogrammed or destroyed, but before that occurs he must understand what made him seek freedom in the first place. Through a breathless race, Ben and Lila realize that this is not just about saving one unit but a quest to prove the worth of an entire species. It is a tale of what it means to feel, what makes us human, and whether or not you can ever define the soul.
