About the author:
"Evia" or Eve Sharon Moore is an African American woman who is married to a white American man. She is the proud mother of two sons, and holds undergrad and graduate degrees in comparative cultures and counseling. Aside from writing, she devotes herself to the arts and to her home-based fiber arts and jewelry business. Evia has traveled internationally, lived abroad, and has spent time on various 'slices of life,' " she says.

She was interviewed extensively and cited by the Associated Press in 2007 in an article regarding the surge in African American women dating and marrying white men, and her blog that began in 2006, soon morphed into the website: BlackFemaleInterracialMarriage.com. Along with essays, the site contains numerous pictures of black female-non-black male couples from all walks of life-from the rich and famous to the ordinary. " I wanted to shine the light on the interracial marriage option for African American women. It's another choice that upwardly mobile African American women, especially, have for love and marriage that is not often reflected in the black or white media. I wanted to urge African American women to take advantage of those possibilities for love and marriage outside their immediate environment, just as women of other races and ethnicities do."

Evia urges African American women to "feel free to date and marry any suitable, loving and lovable quality man from any background in the global village. The 'quality' of the man is the critical factor; not skin shade," she stresses, and "men of quality come in all skin shades and from all backgrounds. Lots of these guys would love the chance to develop a loving, committed relationship with a black woman. And let's face it, finding a man of quality in the ocean is much easier than finding him in a backyard puddle."

In Book 1 of her essays, plucked from the more than 400 essays she has written, she describes herself as 'unapologetic' in spurring black women towards more fulfilling lives. She is often described as "courageous" among those in her wide readership as she implores African American women to engage in self-love and to promote and protect their own interests-'first and foremost.' Book 1 is the first book in the series discussing the intersection of black women's empowerment along with aspects of love and marriage between African American women and non-African American men at the turn of the millennium.

First and Foremost

Authored by Eve Sharon Moore

Penetrating essays and riveting comments from the 2007 Associated Press highlighted website: BlackFemaleInterracialMarriage.com as black women and white men discuss the factors and nuances in the current social environment that are causing the surge in black female interracial dating and marriages with mainly white men. Internet personality, "Evia" Moore urges African American women, especially if they want children, to make marriage to a "quality" man of whatever "skin shade" a high priority. "African American women must take advantage of their many possibilities for love and marriage outside the scope of their usual environment. If so, they would find many interested, marriageable men: white and others from a variety of ethnic groups who appreciate black women." Check out why more than 900,000 readers have viewed almost 2 million pages of Evia's writings and scores of photos of prominent and ordinary black female-non-black male couples on her site, and return often to see more.
