About the author:

"This is this most succinct and understandable statement of faith I've ever read. It makes me wonder why people have been making them boring for hundreds of years." -Michael

"Having observed your life, character and commitments for nearly 30 years I can say without reservation that you are a godly man of great gifting who has persevered in the faith once for all delivered to the saints. You hold the truth in love, an unusual way of life even among those who claim to do so." -Jennifer

"I wouldn't have expected an 'ordination paper' to cause me to want to worship. But it did." -Rob

Wally Metts is a professor of communication at a Christian liberal arts university which does not necessarily share his theology. He was an associate editor for Guideposts for Kids magazine and lead writer for the Children’s Book of the Bible, by Publications International. Other titles include the Santa Papers: an unofficial autobiography available in print and on Kindle.

He attended Tennessee Temple University and Temple Baptist Theological Seminary, but received his B.A. and M.S. from the University of Tennessee and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

He and his wife Katie home schooled their four children, who found their passions in theater, web-design, photography and music. He has nine grandchildren, who call him Santa.

the ordination papers

celebrating sovereignty

Authored by Wally Metts Jr.

Ordination is a way of passing the torch, revisiting timeless truths and attempting to make practical sense of them. In the Ordination Papers a middle-aged man approaches this process as a series of questions, some of which he still does not know how to answer.

His struggle is deeply personal. But it is public too, since the office he seeks touches the lives of many. You won't have to agree with his answers to appreciate the questions-and to find yourself wondering how you might answer them yourself.
