About the author:
As a child, KZ's greatest influences were her Artist Mother and Storyteller Father. So it was only natural that one day, KZ would write and illustrate books. She was raised on a ranch during the early years of her life. This is where KZ developed a love for animals. Horses, billy goats and dogs were her best friends. Sitting in the fields and sketching her animal pals was how KZ learned to draw. And she also wrote stories to go along with her sketches.
In the seventh grade KZ was excited about taking a creative writing class. But after the first writing assignment, the teacher singled KZ out. She passed the papers out to the other students, but instead of giving KZ her paper, she called her up to the front of the room and announced, "You don't belong here." The other students laughed at KZ as the teacher sent her away. At the time, KZ didn't understand her teacher's actions. But the teacher had arranged for KZ to advance to the eighth grade American Literature class. Although KZ would have preferred to stay back in the creative writing class, it was an honor to skip a grade.
Once referred to as "Child Prodigy", people took notice of KZ and her vivid imagination. So she was sent to the Einstein School for the Gifted where she perfected her artistic talents. Then at the age of thirteen, KZ started college part-time. As the recipient of The National Portfolio Scholarship Award, KZ attended The Rome School Of Art in Italy. She graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration and a Minor in Business.
Next KZ was off to NYC where she worked as a Designer for several years. Eventually, KZ had enough of the hustle and bustle of the Big City and headed West. KZ currently resides in Southern California where she is a self-employed writer and artist. With a couple of published books under her belt, KZ is on her way to becoming a well respected author.
KZ hopes to leave a lasting impression with her creations. Her stories open the mind and teach people to think outside of the box and beyond.
