Col. Crafoord is a retired military officer from the Swedish Army. He comes from a long line of soldiers who originally came to Sweden from Scotland to fight in the European wars of the 17th and 18th centuries. They stayed on and became Swedish citizens, marrying into military families and adopting the Swedish rendition Crafoord of the Crawford surname.

Graduated as lieutenant from General staff College 1955.
