About the author:
Steve Ruis (1946- ) got started late in archery and was predominantly a compound bow field archer until his frequent complaints about how "we aren't doing enough to help kids in archery" got him into coaching. He currently holds a Level 4 Coaching credential from USA Archery and Master Coach credential from the National Field Archery Association. Steve shoots recurves, longbows, and compound bows, but his real passion now is to elevate the coaching of archery, as that is the route through which many more people can come to enjoy the sport. Steve, born and raised in California, currently lives in Chicago, IL.
Steve Ruis, with his partner Claudia Stevenson, have been publishing Archery Focus magazine for over a decade. Steve has published the books Coaching Archery, More on Coaching Archery, Archery4Kids, and A Parent's Guide to Archery, through Watching Arrows Fly, a publisher created specifically to launch deserving archery books.
More on Coaching Archery
Following his book, Coaching Archery, Steve Ruis, Editor of Archery Focus magazine, continues on how to coach archery. The book Coaching Archery served beginning-to-intermediate coaches, and now More on Coaching Archery addresses the full range of coaching levels.
Topics include: basic biomechanical aspects affecting the shot, the relationship of stance to being able to aim, where form flaws come from and how to avoid them, how to address students' equipment problems, how to estimate an archer's chances of winning, how to prepare to perform, how students' personalities determine how they learn and how you should treat them, the role of emotion in shooting consistently, how to help students deal with target panic, and even how to find arrows in the grass . . . and much more.
If you are an archery coach and want to become a better one, this book is for you.
