About the author:
Howard Miller teaches management skills to new managers, seasoned managers, entrepreneurs and executives. He uses his skills as a trainer, facilitator, and executive/management/business coach to help his clients utilize their internal behaviors and styles to maximize communication and productivity skills. This results in a clearer vision and mission, specific and measurable goals and actions, and more strategies to ensure financial, professional and personal success!
Howard is on the faculty of AMA (American Management Association) and teaches courses in the management curriculum including Skills for New Managers, Increasing Managerial Effectiveness, Making the Transition from Staff to Supervisor, Successfully Managing People), as well as Time Management. Topics include delegation and motivation methodologies, conflict, how to deal with difficult people, understanding values and behavior, feedback and listening skills.
A detail, results-oriented individual with outstanding presentation and communication skills, Howard uses his excellent problem-solving abilities, combined with consistent follow through and sense of humor while working with his clients.
Clients include mid-range to large companies, both corporate and non profit such as the IRS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, IBM, state government, public school districts, and non profit organizations. Howard also does executive and business coaching with the Ken Blanchard organization.
Howard is an author. His first book, You're Full of Shift, short stories which demonstrate shifting difficult situations into opportunities, is available now.
Howard's second book, The Top Traps and Pitfalls All Managers Should Avoid, will be available in the spring of 2011.
Howard has been on the boards of the National Speakers Association Northern California Chapter, ASTD (American Society of Trainers and Developers) and Golden Gate Business Association. He was a Big Brother for seven years and volunteered for San Francisco Suicide Prevention. Howard has a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, from the State University of New York at Albany, Albany, NY, a Certificate in Training and Human Resource Development from University of California, Berkeley, and graduated from the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) in San Rafael, California.
