About the author:
Noted for his foresight as both a writer and publisher, Adam Parfrey's Apocalypse Culture was hailed by J.G. Ballard as "the terminal documents of the Twentieth Century." According to Disinfo.com, "Adam Parfrey is probably the most influential 'underground' publisher in post-millennial America."
In the L.A. Weekly, Doug Harvey celebrates "Adam Parfrey's notorious, perpetually ahead-of-the-curve company, Feral House, whose encyclopedic interest in taboo (and conveniently forgotten) cultural phenomena helped define independent media ... keeping it broad and porous - often by sheer force of will - for almost two decades."
Adam Parfrey first brought The Manson File to print in 1988 through his previous company, Amok Press (done in collaboration with Kenneth Swezey). No other book dared approach the Manson phenomena from the perspective of the family itself, and not Vincent Bugliosi's conspiracy theory or Christianized confessionals. Due to Parfrey's credited work on Amok Press' initial releases, Mr. Swezey requested that Parfrey not be credited for his work on The Manson File so that Amok Press would not be viewed as a vanity press.
With this release, Parfrey is properly credited as the book's primary editor.
The Manson File
Charles Manson as revealed in letters, photos, stories, songs, art, testimony and documents.
John Aes-Nihil, Nick Bougas, Boyd Rice, Jimmi Rocket, Nikolas Schreck, Jack Stevenson
The Manson File caused a sensation when it first appeared in 1988 under the Amok Press imprint. Never before had uncensored source material from the Family itself become available in a commercially distributed book.
Now, under Feral House's Resurrection series, here's the entirety of a long out-of-print book, complete with Manson's letters, spells, curses, artwork, lyrics, stories, and an essay on the power of evil, intended not for the public, but to influence his circle of followers. A picture emerges of what it was like to be part of Charles Manson's Family, and the process of conversion to Mansonism.
Here are rare photos, revelations by Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme and Sandra Good, an examination of Manson's ATWA ecological organization, and links to revolutionary right-wing factions and Libya's Colonel Khaddafy. Included is an annotated bibliography, anecdotes, death certificates, bizarre coincidences, and obscure but pertinent facts that provide the keys to unlock further unsolved mysteries.
