About the author:
Robert Polsky grew up in Saint Louis, Missiouri. He obtained a bachelor's degree in finance from Southwest Missouri State University. However, shortly after launching what had started out to be a successful career, Robert was stricken with a mysterious and debilitating health challenge.

The condition impacted the nervous system and was quite debilitating. Though doctor shopping and experimenting with medicines and therapies became a full time endeavor, none of them resulted in lasting or significant improvement.

Over several years, Robert became a researcher in his own right. Since medicines were obviously not the answer, he focused on natural therapies and practices, such as acupuncture, herbology, yoga, meditation, breath work, chi kung, and other Taoist practices.

The journey, eventually lead to living in India on two occasions for a total of about three years. There, Robert continued his studies and practice of Eastern philosophies, practice and medical therapies, including ayurvedic and Tibetan medicine, acupuncture and body work.

The journey continued and resulted in living in SE Asia, where Robert regularly spent lengthy stays at Buddhist temples, where he practiced vipassana or insight meditation.

Along this journey, Robert had the opportunity to study or spend time in the presence of some extraordinary Healers and Teachers. Some of whom are revered in their respective country. One such person was an 86-year-old Tibetan monk, whom had been the personal physician of The Dalai Lama. The list goes on......

It was this eclectic background of research and experience that eventually lead to the book Why You Suck at Weight Loss.

Why You Suck at Weight Loss

How your emotions make you fat, And how to transform them.

Authored by Robert Polsky

Is there a cure for food addiction? Usually, when someone goes on diet after diet and still fails to lose weight and keep it off, they are addicted to food. They are an emotional eater. Is that you? That was me, too.

This is a book about healing and transformation. Healing the root causes of food addiction and even substance abuse requires healing yourself on the deepest levels. Using ancient breath techniques and awareness practices taught by the Buddha, this book helps you to gain control over food addiction and other compulsive behaviors.

As you know, from experience, just deciding to change your behavior isn't enough. You have to change YOU! Working with the breathing practices outlined in this book, you can alter your brain and nervous system to where you begin to have more choices available to you.

Many addiction treatment methods focus on education. However, education is about using your mind to learn new information. But you already have enough information. You just wish you could control yourself better and don't understand why you keep repeating the same patterns that make you fat. Isn't that the nature of food addiction or addiction of any kind?

So to treat food addiction or any addictive or compulsive behavior, you need to change the operating system, and that's easier said than done. Yogic Breathing techniques can help you to bypass the troubled mind, wherein the roots of the pain that causes the addictive behavior lie.

Just utilizing the awareness practices revealed in this book will help you begin to have greater control over your emotional eating or substance abuse.
