Hiding Missy

Authored by Jackie Knott
Edited by Roland Knott

An anonymous woman appears at the restaurant back door of a truck stop late at night. She was beaten senseless and hardly vertical, but she still asks for a job. The owner doesn't know who she is, where she came from, and cannot understand why she is so fearful of relating any history about herself.
Tom is quickly attracted to the woman he calls "Missy" and shelters her. He soon understands she is in an impossible predicament and calls on his local sheriff to help him solve this riddle. They are plunged into a frightening situation of corruption at the highest level of law enforcement - Missy's abusive husband is involved in drugs and money laundering on a massive scale.
The sheriff and Tom, with Missy's help, embark on an involved plan to corner her husband, arrest him, and free Missy from a self imposed prison. The problem requires she be hidden so deeply no one can find her until the situation can be resolved. A dramatic end to the crisis finally reveals Missy's true identity.
