About the author:
J. Anthony Bryan

Mr. Bryan is an attorney who received his bachelor degree from San Francisco State University and his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School. He has been successfully representing criminal defendants for over forty years, but he has also been a city prosecutor, so he knows how things work on both sides of a case.

Mr. Bryan received his Honorable Discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 1965, and is also a former firefighter with the United States Forest Service.

Mr. Bryan was once described by the Bakersfield Californian as the "Courtroom Tornado," and he was the winner of the 2003 Atticus Finch Award for "unwavering commitment to his clients and the law."

He is highly skilled in criminal defense, and has been appointed by the court on dozens of death penalty cases. When a defendant's life is on the line, courts and clients trust Mr. Bryan.

Victor VeVea

Mr. VeVea received his bachelor degree in Math and Computer Science from Cal State Bakersfield. He became interested in the law when he was falsely accused and had to prove his own actual innocence. He went on to get his Bachelor of Law degree and Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern California University School of Law before passing the California Bar on the first attempt.

Mr. VeVea is known as "the Magician" because of his uncanny ability to conjure viable defenses in cases that others see as hopeless, and because of his expertise in prestidigitation.

United States District Court Judge Lawrence J. O'Neill described Mr. VeVea as "extraordinarily bright person, and...an intellectual vigilante." Despite such glowing praise, Mr. VeVea does not practice law; instead, he devotes his time to volunteer work, scholarly endeavors, helping others who have been falsely accused, and assisting Mr. Bryan and other attorneys on the most difficult cases.
