Rev. Kramer has a wife, Amanda, and two children (Elijah and Leia). He derives great comfort and encouragement from his family and has said that he is a blessed man to have such a wonderfully understanding family.
I was called to preach at eight years old while attending a church service. I remember looking up at the minister preaching and I heard the strong internal voice of God say to me that this was what I would do for the rest of my life; this was accompanied by a strong sense of peace and has been confirmed through others throughout my life. As a child at such an early age you don't understand what any of that means. You just continue through life. One year, while attending the Southern Baptist Youth Camp at Lake Yale Florida, I heard a preacher who relayed the Gospel to me in terms that I could understand. At this point that strong sense that I had experienced earlier in my life came back, but this time I realized, though raised in church, I had never given my life to Jesus Christ. At the moment of invitation I accepted Christ to be my personal Lord and Savior. Since that time on, I have had an assurance of my salvation by the sealing of The Holy Spirit. Since that time I have endeavored to fulfill this call on my life with diligence in studying and teaching God's Word.
Hebrews & You
A Reader's Companion to The Book of Hebrews
Rev. Joseph R. Kramer
This book was born out of questions from people who had never read the book of Hebrews.
Many of the people at the church in which I pastor have had difficulty understanding Hebrews. This is because of its glorious depth, cultural references, and historical context.
You will find a summary of each chapter in the book of Hebrews. In each summation there will be answers to the most common questions found in Hebrews.
Books and commentaries fall into different scales. Think of it as an onion. An onion has many layers. This book falls into the most outer layer of understanding as it relates to Hebrews. This is not an all-encompassing commentary on Hebrews. It is for the first-time reader of Hebrews. It should be a part of someone's beginning journey to spiritual enlightenment through the book of Hebrews.
What this book is not:
* An extensive commentary on the book of Hebrews.
* An extreme in depth look at the theology and doctrine of the book of Hebrews.
What this book is:
* This book was designed to be a reader's companion to the book of Hebrews. It designed for the individual who has never read the book of Hebrews to be able to pick it up and come to a cursory understanding of its pages.
* This book attempts to summarize and highlight difficult passages in order to broaden the reader's perspective.
* This book tends to combine chapters for better understanding and flow of the content in Hebrews.
When using this book
Most people who have used this book find it helpful to open in prayer, read the sections on the chapters they will be covering in Hebrews, read the chapters in Hebrews and then re-read the section in this book. This will make the book of Hebrews come alive to the reader and broaden the reader's understanding.
