About the author:
A native of the Detroit, Michigan, Terry LaBan began drawing and writing comic books in 1989, quickly becoming a player in the then-burgeoning alternative comics scene. Between 1989 and 1998 he wrote and drew three complete series--Unsupervised Existence and Cud for Fantagraphics Books and Cud Comics for Dark Horse Comics--and also worked as a writer, notably with DC Comics, which published a Muktuk Wolfsbreath mini-series, illustrated by Steve Parkhouse, in 1997.
Since 2001, Terry and his wife Patty have co-created Edge City, a daily comic strip nationally syndicated by King Features Syndicate. Samples of LaBan's work can be found on his web site, www.labanarama.com.
Muktuk Wolfsbreath, Hard Boiled Shaman: The Spirit of Boo
A Graphic Novel by Terry LaBan
A graphic novel that's a unique mashup of Siberian shamanism and classic noir detective fiction, Muktuk Wolfsbreath takes readers on a wildly entertaining, hallucinogenic journey to heaven, hell and the dark secrets hiding behind the skin covers of reindeer herders' tents. The mean streets of New York and L.A. have nothing on the frigid forests of Siberia when it comes to danger, and Muktuk Wolfsbreath needs all his shamanic powers to deal with wicked women, thuggish tribesmen, demons, animal spirits and his own troubled past as he fights to rescue a young boy's soul. Includes the 3 original, never-reprinted Muktuk stories that appeared in LaBan's alternative comic series Cud and Cud Comics.
