About the author:
Christian LeBlanc is a revert whose pre-Vatican II childhood was spent in South Louisiana, where he marinated in a Catholic universe and acquired a Catholic imagination. During his middle school years in South Carolina, Christian was catechized under the benevolent dictatorship of Sister Mary Alphonsus, who frequently admonished him using the nickname "Little Pagan." After four years of teaching Adult Ed and RCIA, he returned to Sr. Alphonsus' old classroom to teach Catechism himself. Married to Janet, the LeBlancs have five children and two grandsons.
Christian and Janet belong to St. Mary's Parish in Greenville, South Carolina.
Christian posts regularly at the Amazing Catechists and New Evangelizers websites; and at his blog, Smaller Manhattans.
The Bible Tells Me So
A Year of Catechizing Directly from Scripture
30 Lessons. 2 Testaments. 1 Mass.
If you are a middle-school catechist or homeschooler looking for tried-and-tested ways to use the Bible to teach the Catholic faith to a roomful of tired kids, this is the book for you.
The Bible Tells Me So recounts one year of Bible-based Catholic teaching for 6th-graders, featuring both Bible-sourced Catechesis, and the give-and-take between teacher and students. It’s intended to provide a firm Scriptural foundation for today’s Catholic children, and give them an invaluable familiarity with the Bible and their faith at the same time.
The Bible Tells Me So is divided into three Units: 1 and 2 treat the Bible chronologically from Genesis to Revelations, emphasizing the Catholic understanding of Scripture. These classes are taught directly from the Bible. Unit 3 then examines the Mass in lessons which draw from the knowledge gained in the preceding units, using the Bible and a Missalette.
Prepare young Catholics for the New Evangelization: read The Bible Tells Me So.

Endorsement on the back cover: “...sound in its teaching, faith-filled, engaging, motivating, and at times quite entertaining...an ideal guidebook for a catechist introducing a middle school student to the Bible...I would rate his book as one of the best, if not the best, introductions to the Bible. He makes it exciting. He also provides a masterful explanation of the Mass in the last section of the book. Mr. LeBlanc has a gift for language, and has an intriguing way of inviting students into bits of Hebrew and Greek without being at all heady or intimidating...I would readily recommend the book to catechists.”
