Parents Underground

Authored by J. M. Keegan

Jessica just doesn't get it. She is being arrested for shoplifting, and nobody will believe that she was at school the day the theft occurred. The checkout clerk and the security guard both swear that she's the culprit. But when the police show her the surveillance video, everything becomes clear: one of the girls involved in the crime looks exactly like her. The incident leads Jessica to an amazing discovery. She has an identical twin sister somewhere, a sister who was kidnapped shortly after their birth.
Once released Jessica is determined to track down her sister. But when she finally finds her, she discovers that neither her newfound sister, Angela, nor her adoptive parents seem to know anything about the kidnapping. But there is something strange going on, and Angela begs Jessica to tell no one about her existence. Her parents were once involved in the anti-war movement of the nineteen-sixties, and they are still wanted by the police.
There is only one thing to do, Jessica decides. They much switch places for a few months so that she can make certain that her sister's parents are telling the whole story. But the twins' strikingly different personalities lead to confusion and mayhem as they each try to cope with life styles so different from what they are used to. For Jessica it's all a game, but for Angela it's no joking matter. Her parents' freedom is at stake.
