About the author:
John Aaron is a writer, artist, musician and arts organizer with a particularly colorful history and story.

He first wrote for Night Moves Magazine in Los Angeles as the Concert Critic, in the mid 90's. He later founded ArfSpeak, the art and politics magazine he published in Washington, DC from 2003-2006. In it, he gave the Administration their due. These journals provided an outlet for his sense of humor and irony. He has always illustrated his stories.

As an organizer and director, he founded CHALK4PEACE, the non-profit global chalk art project for peace. He also founded and curated the controversial Museum of Modern ARF in Arlington, VA.

With his sculpture and painting, he is a veteran of more than 30 one person exhibitions on two continents. He draws great inspiration from traveling; he writes and paints constantly while on the road.

He lives, works and doesn't smoke in Ojai, California.

Romancing The Smoke: Reflections of a Nicotine Addict is John's first book.

Reflections of a Nicotine Addict

Authored by John Aaron
Illustrated by John Aaron

Romancing The Smoke is a darkly humorous memoir, written and illustrated by John Aaron, who shares his experience as he overcame a forty-year nicotine addiction in the midst of a family of smokers. John tells tales about the habit and chronicles the astonishing rise of tobacco, its creepy factoids, and insidious marketing campaigns- and what we are doing now to change that. This book is perhaps the first memoir to discuss nicotine addiction on such a personal level, and how smoking became such a powerful lifestyle. It offers the painful and hilarious truths about withdrawal and some meditative advice about becoming smoke-free. If ever you needed an outrageous pep talk about quitting, this is it. It may be the trail out of Nicotine Canyon. The author is three years without tobacco and swears it's his greatest triumph. The motto of the book is don't forget to breathe...
