About the author:
Rory Dillon read for a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Durham University and subsequently a Masters in Productivity and Innovation at Leeds Metropolitan University. He is currently studying an MSc in Development Management at the London School of Economics.
Rory worked as a research assistant at the Grimsby Institute from 2007-2010, in which time he worked as part of a team on UNIDO funded projects in Pakistan and Indonesia. Rory was instrumental, working alongside the Grimsby team, in developing a successful impact projection tool in line with EUAID guidelines. Rory spent a year as a business relationships consultant designing data dashboards for FTSE 100 clients and is currently a research fellow at the Institute of Productivity as well as the finance officer at education charity Link Ethiopia.
Tom Burgess is a senior academic in Operations and Technology Management at Leeds University Business School and leads the Technology and Innovation Group. He has contributed to various books and authored over sixty papers in peer-reviewed academic journals. He obtained a PhD in Computer Studies and an MBA after dual-qualifying as a Production and Mechanical Engineer.
Tom is a Fellow of the World Academy of Productivity Sciences and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and of the British Academy of Management. He has a long-standing interest in productivity and performance management that stems from his time in industry and continues today in his research and professional activities such as his co-editorship of the International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management. More recently his research interests have embraced sustainability and its interaction with organisational and network performance.
