God is the Becoming-One

Authored by Walter R. Dolen

This book attempts to demonstrate in a logical way who or what God is, assuming a few premises. But what about the paradoxes pertaining to God. Why, if God is good and all powerful, is there suffering? Why do innocent children suffer through no fault of their own? Why do we die? God made the angels immortal, why didn't he create us immortal? Why do we get diseases? Since he created the world, why did he place the possibility of diseases in the world? How can God be love (lJohn 4:8), and also a killer? In scripture the Lord says, "I kill and I make alive; I wound, and I heal" (Deut 32:39; 1Sam 2:6). Yet the Bible says that God is good to all (Psa 145:9). How can God be good to all and also a killer? How can God predestinate some to wrath and destruction (Rom 9:21-23; Jude 1:4; Prov 16:4; 1Peter 2:8), and some to mercy and glory (Rom 9:21-23; Eph 1:4-5; etc.)? Not only is God love, but He is all-powerful (Gen 17:1; Rev 1:8). In his all-powerfulness He even created evil: "I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things" (Isa 45:7). These are some of the Biblical paradoxes of God.

The goal of this book is to define God through scripture without real contradictions using the paradoxes of God to help illuminate and explain. Are contradictions the proof that people's views about God are mistaken? Or are the contradictions a key in ascertaining the truth?
