This story is the saga of Mr. and Mrs. Jones, fictional characters based on real ones, in their quest to purchase a piano for their home. It begins with a description of the demographics of piano sellers and buyers and then sets the stage for Mrs. Jones to research pianos at three competing stores. There are a lot of details on piano construction but the real issues are explored at the final two stores where "singing tone" and a "flange" enter the discussion. The book ends with the moral of the story that reveals which store Mrs. Jones brought Mr. Jones back to for the piano purchase.
