About the author:
Laurisa Borlovan resides along the Gulf Coast with her family. In her early years, she showed a developing talent in art, music, and writing. She picked up the silver orchestral flute in middle school and eventually added the pan flute and saxophone to her collection. Drawing had always proven to be her favorite hobby and it wasn't many years before she replaced her pencil and paper with a bird-carving iron and slabs of finely cut wood. At the start of 2011, Laurisa launched Phoenix Pyrocreations as a market for her works.
Hobbies aside, Laurisa is active in her local church and volunteers her time to supporting the men and women in her region's corrections system.

Paper Shackles

Authored by Miss Laurisa Borlovan

How many teenage boys awake from a gang initiation with an ironic tattoo still bleeding on their skin? Retribution, is the word that connects Jason Sparks to a fateful night that leaves one man dead and another serving a self-imposed sentence. Its haunting memories are the very shackles that hold him to a personal prison. But the personal prison doesn't seem like all that horrible of a place to stay. With fate twisted by an unseen hand, a routine trip to downtown Denver, Colorado forces Jason to make a life-changing decision: to come to the aid of a helpless policeman and risk being caught and tried for murder, or to turn a blind eye as the policeman of the past did to him as a boy.
