Taming Your Zills
Are you an experienced dancer who is now trying to go back and learn to play finger cymbals? Do you feel stuck trying to build rhythms, or frustrated when you try to dance and play at the same time? I created this DVD for you.
"Taming Your Zills" gives you a step-by-step plan for how to proceed. 16 chapters provide strategy, common rhythms, improvisation-building exercises, tips, and bonus drill sections. You'll begin combining simple zills and dance moves almost from the start. As you progress, you'll be guided to integrate your growing skills into practice and performance in small increments, to keep you on track with your dancing. You'll also learn to hear groups of notes as single units of sound, so you can use them as building blocks to create more complex rhythms and accents with your finger cymbals.
Aslahan has been involved in belly dance for more than two decades. Her own early struggles with finger cymbals gave rise to the techniques in this DVD, and converted her frustration into a passion for playing zills, and teaching zill playing to others.
