About the author:
I have always been a romantic at heart, and it was when I entered recovery twenty-five years ago that I discovered an interest in writing poetry and short stories. Always looming in the background was my desire to write a novel. This goal has now become a reality, and I am happily pursuing my career as an author.

Originally from California, I became a transplant to New Jersey when I met the love of my life through the internet. We now reside in NE Pennsylvania in a rather rural area with our little girl, Sophie, a vibrant little Cockapoo with a heart of gold.

In my first novel I wanted to portray real people who are like anyone else, with the exception being that they are gay. It is the first in a series I am planning to write in which I will present characters with what can be assumed as an obvious difference from other individuals, with this distinction always being something that is beyond their control. Their stories will portray them as ordinary people, driven by the same needs, dreams, and desires as everyone else.

I hope you will enjoy my first novel and that you will continue to join me as I endeavor to create more characters with whom you may identify, and situations that will intrigue you and tug at your heart.

It Started With The Garden

Authored by Brandon Carlisle
Edition: 2

Sometimes love happens when you least expect it. With the right person it can also help you heal.

It has been a year since Allen lost Adrian, his partner of twenty years, to Mesothelioma. Adrian had been his best friend in school growing up and then became the love of his life late in high school. Even with the encouragement of friends and family Allen has been unable to move forward, and only by a chance act of kindness does his life take a turn for the better.

Steven is an introverted young man, fraught with low self-esteem courtesy of parents who never failed to remind him that he had been a "mistake" and had ruined their lives. His life changes dramatically when an act of kindness, offered by one whom he has admired from a distance, leads him to a world of self-discovery and growth he never imagined possible.

Can one person damaged by loss, and another damaged by abuse and neglect learn to accept change and open themselves up to a new beginning? Join Allen and Steven as they embark upon a journey of discovery that leads to growth as individuals, and new opportunities for happiness while still honoring the past.
