About the author:
Stephen Lovatt was born in 1958 in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The jolt of his mother's death when he was fourteen, made him resolve to become a member of the Methodist Church. In 1990, he returned to academic studies and was awarded a PhD in Physics in 1993. At about this time he discovered the works of Plato. The Empty Bench

Songs of life, love and loss.

Authored by Dr Stephen C Lovatt

Stephen Lovatt has always been interested in hymnody and poetry, especially that of William Blake. He started to write poetry seriously in 2009 after moving to Cheltenham. This is his second collection of poems. It focuses on philosophical and emotional significance, and in particular the nature and experience of love. The text is informed by his Platonism and Catholicism.
