About the author:
Dr. Butkins has studied addictions, mental health and marriage and family therapy for close to 50 years. Having his Ph.D. from the University of Florida and Master's degree from Niagara University, he has been in the counseling field since the late 1960's. Work experience includes being a mental health counselor on a locked psychiatric ward, supervisor of a mental health, drug and alcohol hotline, college associate professor and private practitioner. Having owned three treatment centers, he has his licenses in mental health, marriage and family therapy and certification as an addiction professional. Other books include Tried & True Methods To Get Sober & Clean and Sober and Separated. His dissertation was on relapse prevention with addicts and alcoholics. At present, Dr. Butkins owns and directs My Freedom Quest, Inc., an outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment center that also houses a DCF licensed intensive outpatient substance abuse program.
