About the author:
Hunter Reynolds is an astrological counselor, teacher, writer and dharma poet. Born in Chicago and raised in an intentional community based on the teachings of 17th century mystic Emmanuel Swedenborg, he has since been deeply influenced by Advaita and Buddhist thought. A full-time astrologer since 2002, Hunter weaves the meditative insights of the east with the psychological insights of western astrology, creating a unique form of counseling called “Astrodharma” in which the astrological archetypes are understood as styles of awakening. In addition to offering professional phone and in-person consultations worldwide, he has a passion for teaching students how to practice astrology as a path of awakening via his intensive, 3-month archetypal literacy course entitled “The Styles of Awakening Training.” He is the author of two collections of nondual poetry, "Fukushima Fortune Cookies" and "Brave New Prayers." His website is Astrodharma.org.
12 Wheels of Karma: Astrology as a tool for meditation and self-inquiry
This little jewel of a book presents a simple yet profound and effective way of using the twelve astrological archetypes as tools to release yourself from suffering and naturally open your heart to others. Whether you're new to astrology and meditation or a long-time practitioner, the cutting-edge astro-dharma meditations and self-inquiry exercises in this book will help you:
- Establish a grounded daily practice in alignment with your archetypally unique style of awakening that helps you to integrate spiritual insight with daily life.
- Identify your spinning wheels of suffering and learn ways of returning to their compassionate, witnessing center.
- Increase your capacity to understand, forgive and support the full spectrum of personality types that you encounter in daily life.
Clear illustrations of the twelve wheels that correspond to the archetypes lucidly describe the "spin" we get into around key issues in our lives such as nurture, embodiment, self-worth, authority, service and community. These wheels reveal how all of the astrological archetypes live in each of us, whatever sign we identify with as "ours."
The wheels also illuminate what the author refers to as "the windows of sanity" - the point in each cycle where we begin to lose our clarity and enter into a downward spin. By learning to recognize this point in ourselves and others, we can abort the spin and return home to the awakened expression of each archetype that is our birthright.
