The Spacious Firmament

Authored by Janika Vandervelde

This ethereal setting of Joseph Addison's text is for SATB, violin, and 'the celestial music of the spheres' - an electronic accompaniment available separately (visit for a free download). It was commissioned through the Faith Partners residency program (American Composers Forum), in which composers collaborate with a consortium of faith-based communities in the creation of new music. It was premiered in 2003 by Chris Brunelle and the First UCC choir in Northfield, MN.
