About the author:
Jill Viggiano spent 19 years working in commercial real estate before retiring to become a full time mom. An active volunteer, Jill couldn't help but raise her hand and take on leadership roles in the community. The opportunity to form and advance philanthropic organizations and their causes kept her engaged in both local and national efforts. Jill's style is to create a team environment where cooperation and accomplishment happen while having fun. When her husband survived a massive stroke, Jill focused her skills on his recovery. She now assists him in his day-to-day needs as well as in his speaking career. Jill wrote Painful Blessing, a book about her spouse and caregiver experience, shedding light on the real life impact of acquired brain injury, and providing hope and encouragement to those facing significant challenges.

Gordon Viggiano has 30 years experience in sales and sales management in start-up and fast growth environments. Over those years, he developed a proven guerrilla-based system to gain entry into even the most difficult of companies in highly competitive markets. Mr. Viggiano's nuts and bolts style helped his clients to differentiate, cut through the clutter, and accomplish the objectives in the most cost-effective manner.

On Gordon's 51st birthday, he suffered a massive stroke and everything changed.

His journey of recovery is still in progress. Gordon is 6 years post-stroke and he is happy to report that he is getting better all the time. In his presentation "My Brain Has A Hole In It," he discusses this life changing experience and the lessons that have come along with it. His goal is to inspire people and help them see that good things can happen, even when one doesn't think it is possible.

Painful Blessing

A Story of Loss, Recovery, Hope, and Faith

Authored by Jill Krantz Viggiano

On his 51st birthday, Gordon Viggiano suffered a massive stroke, dramatically changing his and his family's lives. While he is lost in the fog of his stroke, his wife, Jill, is faced with the terrible reality of caring for her disabled husband, raising their two children, and seemingly inevitable financial ruin. The strength of their faith, marriage and family are tested. In Painful Blessing, Jill tells the story of devastating loss, hope that comes from the faith that sustains her, finding joy in their new life, and the decision to embrace recovery as both a team sport and a lifetime endeavor.
