About the author:
J. L. Ficks began his mad wandering spending his childhood years day-dreaming and staring out classroom windows. He met his co-author J. E. Dugue in the 3rd grade, who joined him in his wistful wanderlust when the unlikely pair first dreamed up the massive fantasy world of Covent. J. L. graduated from Illinois State University whom he tricked into handing him a degree in English Studies. He worked as a freelance writer and ghostwriter for six years until he decided he didn't like writing other people's stuff.

J. L. Ficks now works as a catastrophe adjuster. He spends weeks sifting through the wreckage of tornadoes, hurricanes and the like, helping people rebuild their lives. In his off duty periods, he pours more time into his writing, inflating his fantasy world into the most monstrously overblown fantasy world in literary history. J. L.'s unique mixture of experiences has granted him a cataclysmic perspective for life-shattering events and an odd obsession with rooftops, where his wife has found him writing from time to time.

J. L. Ficks and J. E. Dugue have spent over 20 years pouring their thoughts, love and imaginations into the world of Covent, which has yet to play its best cards. He is married to his lovely wife of thirteen years and enjoys playing with his incredible son and adorable daughter.

The Chronicles of Covent

Authored by J. L. Ficks, J. E. Dugue

Tale Three of the Shade Chronicles...

The Shade saga continues...
A band of western slave traders think they have struck gold when they pull a half-dead Dark Elf out of the swirling sands of the Great Waste. They shackle him with the long lines of other night mortals and ship him overseas. Little do they know that inside this Dark Elf's glowing yellow eyes lies the patient glimmer of a killer...

Yet the slavers are not the only ones with cause for fear. Shade embarks on his darkest journey yet. Dragged across the Sea of Mourning, the sea that always weeps, Shade learns the true meaning of suffering and humiliation. From dark twisted visions of evils older than time itself, to the overwhelming powers of gods and Elder Dragons, the most legendary assassin alive finds himself tossed around like a wave upon the raging seas.

Lashes in the darkness. Dangerous foes trying to settle old scores. Bloodthirsty sea creatures. Nightmares of diabolical shadow dragons. Powers of the highest planes. Will Shade at last reach his marks, the Slavelords of the Black Ring, or shall the sheer horrors and trials of the conquest be his undoing? Can Shade ever hope to overcome such godlike forces or is he just a worm wriggling in the dirt of his own mortality?
