Walking on Water

Poems by Gene G. Bradbury

Authored by Gene G. Bradbury

Walking on Water is the fourth book of poetry by author Gene G. Bradbury.

"I consider the idea of 'walking on water' a metaphor for having enough faith in oneself to risk the first step. If I'm wrong and 'walking on water' is more than metaphor, it must take great skill. To attempt the feat is to believe that more is possible. It may be, to use Jack London's words, "the call of the wild." It's an invitation to pay better attention, listen more intently, see more clearly. What would it be like to see with the eyes of the eagle or hear with the ears of a dog?

"Being human we do not have all the tools, but we can learn to pay better attention to the world around us. We can dream. We can listen to the rivers and oceans. We can give thanks for the people we know. We can listen to the sounds of nature. We can listen to the stories of others. We can send healing winds through the lives of friends and family.

"These poems are my own way of stepping into wakefulness. Each poem is a step onto an uncertain surface, a few moments to walk on water." - Gene G. Bradbury
