About the author:
Ray Morris worked for many years in advertising and after being made redundant he became a teacher in a secondary school.
Ray's love of education and a strong desire to write led him to begin his research into the Mary Rose and the mystery of how she sank. He explains: "I've always loved history and have lots of historic books at home, so it was natural for me to write about an historical event.
"Over the years, I have read extensively about the Mary Rose, the flagship of Henry VIII's fleet and his favourite ship and was intrigued about her sinking. Obviously, I wasn't the only one and many people have come up with a variety of scenarios to explain what may have happened that day."
Over the years Ray has visited the Portsmouth location where the remains of the Mary Rose's hull is now kept to learn more about her and began to develop his own ideas about what may have caused the ship to sink.

Out of the Blue by Ray Morris
Thomas and Julie Townsend and their two sons take a trip to Portsmouth to research their family history. Whilst there Thomas experiences a strange happening as he views one of the archery display cabinets in the Mary Rose museum. He now finds that he has a view of Tudor life as an observer and, as such, has a front row seat in the drama that is about to unfold before him.
The year is now 1544 and Thomas' namesake and ancestor, along with his younger brother Joseph, are thrust into adventure and intrigue far beyond their wildest imaginings.
They are catapulted into the hubbub of Portsmouth town, the challenge of competitive archery, the splendour of Nonsuch Palace and the adventure of Henry's navy aboard the Mary Rose.
The subsequent unfolding tale of treachery and treason aboard the ship results in the catastrophic sinking of the warship in the Solent off Southsea Castle in front of the King.
Is everything on the Mary Rose as it should be? All the men on board are fighting for King and country, but which King? And which country? The mystery unravels and the answers are made clear as the story races to a dramatic and surprising conclusion.
The treachery that led to the sinking of the Mary Rose has remained secret for so long, is about to be revealed.
