About the author:
Nancy L. (Nan) Reed's first writing attempt, at the age of four, was an annotated soup-and-sandwich menu for my imaginary cafe. A love of words grew from that time. Her exploration of poetry resulted in two chapbooks followed by numerous short stories, memory snippets, and the beginnings of two novels. After college, Nan took classes and workshops to improve her writing skills and attended writing conferences to network and learn from successful authors.

Nan's lifelong relationship with words has resulted in the publication of a collection of short stories, a compilation of memory snippets, two books of poems and songs about dogs, an illustrated book of curious questions in poetic form, and a book of conversations between two great friends. Her contributions to anthologies include poetry and short stories. A second book of memory snippets will be released in 2017. Projects in the works include two novels, a readers theater script, and several children's books.

A Short Story Olio

Authored by Nancy L Reed
Edition: 1

A Short Story Olio contains stories related to a range of human experiences -- a woman buys an old store to house a secret project; a young man is haunted by a frightening image; a friend finds hope coping with a tragic situation, and an airline passenger loses his battle to calm a hysterical traveler. Readers will experience joy, wonder, sorrow, and humor as they enjoy the collection.

From Nancy L. Reed: Authors are gatherers of words and builders of stories as well as incorrigible makers of lists for the creation of future tales. We house them in file cabinets, desks, and computers waiting for the day we complete them to share with others. The stories in this collection have spent years in the creative process, enduring numerous rewrites and being perused by critique groups, editors, and beta readers. Thanks to Richard Keller of Wooden Pants Publishing, these stories are now available in A Short Story Olio. Whether you laugh, weep, or find joy in the reading, you will find hope prevalent in the tales of a discouraged veteran who finds companionship in a no name town, a grieving woman who experiences solace after the death of a close friend, and a hesitant father who discovers his quiet love for his daughter. I chose the transparent title, A Short Story Olio, to provide readers with the foreknowledge that the stories contained a variety of themes in the short story genre.
