About the author:
JP Melville is from a small village in southern Ontario, where he grew up farming and building houses. On a hot summer's day, while milking the goats inside the barn, the dusty phone rang. Six months later he was working with women farmers in St. Lucia in the Caribbean. Thus began his varied career across Canada and around the world. His work has taken him to northern Alberta, to Bhutan and Tibet atop the Himalaya mountains, to Timbuktu in the Sahara Desert, into war zones and far beyond. He has always pre-occupied himself with writing in the slender cracks between time.

He now lives in Ottawa, Canada. He owns 40 acres of bush and an off-grid cabin. In his free time he works and bakes bread.

Letters to Elia

Authored by JP Melville
Drawings by Ellen Stone Beeken

Created by a young man named Paul, this novel evolves from first and third person letters written and responded to, for, about and by a woman who never was is or wanted to be.
An unfortunate coming of age story featuring more alcohol than is good for you (Paul).
And an unseasonable conflict between sunshine, rain, snow, groundhogs, goats and the assumptions of an oil ridden, urbanized, industrial mind.
Come along for a bit of motorcycle maintenance and a bumpy ride.
