Forging Healthy Behaviors by Linking to the Lord
Dr. D. Scott Campbell
ChainBreakers is a quick reference guide which illustrates the biblical steps that can be taken to identify and break some of the more common chains of sin that have become acceptable and even applauded behaviors in our world today.
The behaviors and habits are approached from a biblical perspective and include: Anxiety, Addiction (Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs), Gambling, Sexual Sin (Fornication and Adultery, Cohabitation, Homosexuality, Pornography), Judgmentalism and Legalism.
Once the chain of sin is identified and broken through repentance and by applying the Word of God, a new and unbreakable chain that is linked in personal relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ can finally be forged.
ChainBreakers is written for the lay-person and the new Christian who is trapped in repeating the same destructive behaviors over and over and desires to break out of the cycle once and for all.
ChainBreakers also encourages Christians who have fallen back into a worldly lifestyle and desire to fall forward in God's grace. Everyone can benefit from reading this reminder of how to live a life that pleases God and become "blessable" again in Christ.
ChainBreakers is a "back to the basics" approach that is directed to the current generation, which in many cases has no church background or even any idea of what the church is or who it represents.
The main point of this book is to introduce people to a loving Savior who died to set them free from their sin and to foster dependence on Him alone, to meet their needs here, and in the hereafter.
ChainBreakers is also a great resource for pastors and church leaders to use as a small group study or as individual sermon topics.
Each chapter will present a story from someone who has broken free or is in the process of recovery from a particular chain in their life. Their testimonies will bear witness to the victories and setbacks they have experienced through the application of the ChainBreaker scriptures in their own daily lives.
Each "chain" includes a definition, along with the current cultural views and statistics, followed by a "Bible Link" section that features a character study in the scriptures of someone involved or bound by a particular chain.
The next section will present the ChainBreaker scriptures to further illuminate the principles of God concerning each chain. Each chapter will conclude with a section entitled, "Your Links" which will provide helpful exercises and reflective questions to encourage the reader to form new and healthy habits that link them closer to the Lord.
