A Guide to the Ambrosian University

Authored by Peter J. Floriani

The Ambrosian University, located in Milan, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1885 by Father Gregory Fisher, son of John Fisher, the well-known American engineer of the mid-1800s. It is based on the principles expounded in The Idea of a University, the great work of John Henry Cardinal Newman, and so is the first authentic "Newman School": it teaches every field of study as cataloged in the famous Tree of Virtues. an updated version of which appears in all publications of the Ambrosian. This Guide provides a splendid introduction to the Ambrosian, containing tours of both the intellectual and physical layout of the school, maps for both the campus and the local town, a number of questions often asked by curious parties, and a narrative about the events of a typical Orientation Week for prospective undergraduates.
