The Picture of Redemption in the Feasts of Israel

Authored by Dr. G. Michael Saunders Sr.

The Feasts of Israel were given to God's people at Mt. Sinai when they had come out of Egypt and were receiving the moral law of God.  The feasts of Israel were practical, were relevant to life today, were God-centered, worshipful, and were also prophetic - pointing to the coming Messiah, salvation, and eternal life. In the feasts, the people are celebrating and they are worshipping. The people are rejoicing in God and His Messiah - specifically and nationally at the festival times.
God gave the festivals as cycles to be observed yearly so that, by doing them, we can understand God's redemptive plan for the world, the role that the Messiah would play in that redemption, and our personal relationship to God concerning how we grow from a novice Bible believer to a mature Bible believer. By doing them every year, we are kept aware of these great truths all through our lives.
The Festivals of Israel reveal God's Messiah. As we study these feasts we will gain a greater knowledge of God's Word, an improved understanding of the Bible, and a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus. Let's look at the festivals and see their message, see how Jesus participated in them and how He fulfilled them all. Let's see the picture of redemption in the feasts of Israel!
