About the author:
Ms. Diamond's class is a dynamic group of third graders whose hobbies range from boogie-boarding to ballet to basketball. They are experts in hieroglyphics, skateboarding, Minecraft, and raising chickens. They can tell you how to grow your imagination, how to write (and recover from) scary stories, and how to find the best flat rides at a carnival. Their favorite holidays are Halloween, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Day of the Dead. In addition to their regular studies, they tutor kindergartners in math basics. Some are student coaches at recess.
In their classroom community circle, their no-holds-barred discussions cover difficult topics such as civil rights, immigrant deportation, grieving for a loved one, and learning to be strong, compassionate citizens. Many of their conversations culminate into works of art. Ms. Diamond's third graders have recited poetry for the Martin Luther King Oratorical Competition, sung at school assemblies, and made collages to remember those who died. THE BOOK OF KID is their second publication as a class.
Ms. Diamond's third graders do not have a class mascot, but if they did, it would probably be the infamous tooting lizard, the Flatulesaurus.
The Book of Kid
Ms. Diamond's Third Grade Class
THE BOOK OF KID is an illustrated compilation of over a hundred tips (and hashtags) for parents straight from the minds of third-graders. Described as "heartfelt and surprising" and "heartbreakingly sweet and sobering," THE BOOK OF KID is one class's answer to the question: if you could tell your parents anything, what would you say?
