Activities for Hand Development & Curriculum Enhancement
Susan J Thompson OTR
Handy Learning was developed by Occupational Therapist, Susan Thompson, due to the increasing need for hand development in young children. Children no longer play with toys that develop hand skills. Children are therefore, unprepared for the fine motor skills required for success in school and daily living.
This book provides researched, effective and fun activities, proven to promote hand development in young children. All activities have been tested in the classroom, are child driven and prepare the child's hands for complex fine motor task such as: handwriting, cutting, drawing, managing buttons and snaps, and appropriate use of eating utensils.
Handy Learning has been implemented successfully in classrooms and homes across the U.S. and internationally and has been met with enthusiasm by teachers, parents and children alike.
