About the author:
I have spent over 15 years of my life immersed in words. Personally, I believe that poetry can calm the mind, warm the heart and heal the spirit. It surely has done all of that, and more, for me.
My writing hones in on various topics. I share my thoughts and feelings on love, sex, relationships, self-expression, self-discovery, spirituality, and finding happiness. I want my writing to make you think, smile- and feel good. My writing style is blunt, exploratory and unique. Just like me. And I like it that way.
Dreams of Falling
A young, Black girl's' poetic journey battling bipolar depression, anxiety and low self-esteem, while yearning to find true happiness.
Using poetry as her outlet, she describes her struggles with self-doubt, failure, suicidal contemplation, promiscuity and insecurities- striving to rise above it all.
Behind the bright smile she flaunts, she hides the thoughts of a dark, crowded and chaotic mind. To cope, writing poetry uplifts her self-image, in a world that she deems does not always value Black women, especially those battling challenges with mental health.
Despite these struggles, she is determined to manifest her dreams into reality, and become the best version of herself.
Through her many imaginative, vivid and bold poems, she narrates her journey to gaining self-love and self-discovery.
