About the author:
Christie Shinn is a comic book artist, artist, and illustrator that likes to see the unusual and the humorous in things you would not normally see or consider funny. She resides in Los Angeles - a city that is lovely to her in all its concrete glory. She loves drawing, socializing, arting, drawing comics, cats, and geeking out on random stuff. She's a fun person. She likes drawing books for kids and then going into dark, brooding stuff inside of her head whilst giggling with glee. She could probably summon Cthulu if she really, really wanted to, but then she would get bored halfway. So she won't do that. Besides, she likes drawing and writing more.
Her current titles is 'Sepulchre' and 'Personal Monsters' of which people really, really liked, amongst other books. She likes monsters so much that she's involved in a current anthology, "Monsters and Other Scary Shit", released by Wannabe Press! As she loves to draw and create so much, she has a space in The Hive Gallery at Los Angeles as a Resident Artist under HoraTora Studios. You'll probably see a lot of crows and her fun Wall of Hate, and other wierd stuff. That's because she loves crows. And weird stuff. The Wall of Hate is so awesome. It makes you feel like you're all messed up, trapped endlessly in a rubber room. That's what makes it so great! Pretty soon she will release her art book unto the world and that should be now called, 'A Murder of Crows: And Other Horrible Things to See'.
Story is really important to her. Story is the meat and drink of every book. If there is care and thought into a story plus art, it's a great thing. If the story and art sucks, she's not interested and promptly throws it in the garbage. She loves good lore and a thought-out world in a lot of ways - to her it's like a great beer.
A Murder of Crows: And Other Horrible Things to See
Christie S Shinn
Have you ever chuckled at the phrase "a murder of crows" and then pictured something far more sinister? In Christie Shinn's new collection, A 'Murder of Crows: And Other Horrible Things to See', readers get a chance to flip through pages of unsettling images that resonate in somewhat uncomfortable ways.
Images of eyes, bizarre creatures, monsters, and a wounded wolf cover the pages. Razor blades, monsters, and our worst fears of inadequacy all play a role in Shinn's world. A 'Murder of Crows' is not a simple collection of images that are simply pleasing to the eye; her work explores the darkest parts of being a human being and helps to pull us out on the other side.
