About the author:
Ryan Nusbickel is a former television reporter in St. Louis, who somehow managed to win an Emmy despite spending way too much time drawing cartoons in the news vans.
Originally from Georgia, Nusbickel was educated at Wake Forest University and received his Master's in Broadcast Journalism at Syracuse University.
A St. Louis resident of 16 years, Nusbickel eventually hung up his news microphone and pursued his unique brand of picture books including My Pet Arch, Cloudy With A Chance of Toasted Rav, The St. Louis Night Before Christmas, "Who Moved My Gooey Butter Cake!?" and The St. Louis 12 Days of Christmas. Nusbickel lives in St. Louis with his wife, daughters, and a menagerie of pets.
Incidentally, Nusbickel, who is red/green colorblind, often requires his wife, Margaret, to double-check his colors.
My Pet Arch
What would you do if the Arch followed you home?
Not a question that comes up often. However, in Ryan Nusbickel's My Pet Arch, a visit to the Gateway Arch ends with just that: a playful, suddenly animated Gateway Arch following one St Louis youngster back home!
After finding the Arch in his front yard the next morning, the boy and the Arch begin an adventure that involves the Arch turning into a slide, playing soccer, visiting dog parks, and attending a Cardinals baseball game!
The next day the story gets even more interesting: the Arch returns with even more St Louis statues and landmarks, including the Stan Musial statue, the City Museum rooftop praying mantis, and even the giant eye ball from Laumeier Park! The group goes on a Segway tour, a float trip, and even takes a trolley to the Loop.
My Pet Arch - it's a St. Louis TALL TALE!
