The Frost Nixon Watergate Interviews
Available on DVD for the first time exclusively at

LONDON and SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – November 20, 2006 – As Peter Morgan's new play, Frost/Nixon, moves into the West End after a sell out run at the Donmar Warehouse, the spotlight falls on the original historic interviews which are coming up to their 30th anniversary. The Frost Nixon interviews are recognised as one of the great media events of the Twentieth Century. When they were first broadcast in May 1977, they drew the biggest ever worldwide audience for a news interview, with over fifty million people watching in America alone.

The interviews took place over a four week period in a secluded location and during the twenty eight and three quarter gruelling hours of filming, Frost questioned Nixon on everything from Vietnam to China, from abuse of power to the Final Days. But the most tense and gripping sessions were on Watergate – two whole days were devoted to this riveting subject.

Never before – and never afterwards – would Nixon confront the issue of Watergate, particularly in a forum where he had no knowledge of the questions and no right even to see the edited programme before it was broadcast. A picture emerges of a White House under siege, of burglars and hush money, of a Nixon close to tears, having to sacrifice his closest aides – culminating in the unprecedented sight of a President apologising to his people. This historic confrontation became one of the most compelling interviews of all time.

Now, the full Watergate interview is available on DVD for the first time, exclusively from on a global basis. It includes a brand new interview, filmed for the DVD where, after nearly 30 years Sir David Frost takes a look back at the circumstances surrounding the Frost Nixon programme and answers questions on how he came to secure the interview that all big TV companies wanted and what Nixon said to him in their final off-camera conversation following the broadcast to the American people.

Jeff Belle, Head of Entertainment, said, "This interview was truly an historic event and almost thirty years later people all over the world have the opportunity to revisit this piece of landmark television via the Frost/Nixon DVD available exclusively across the world through With the West End and Broadway beckoning and a motion picture to follow, the interviews are once again under a worldwide spotlight and the original footage is still as captivating today as it was all those years ago."

Frost/Nixon the play is now at the Gielgud Theatre and will be on Broadway next Spring. Universal Pictures has acquired the film rights, with Ron Howard directing and a scheduled release for early 2008.
