MTV Releases "Awkward." Season 1 on DVD for the First Time Through CreateSpace DVD on Demand - November 14, 2011

CHARLESTON, S.C. and NEW YORK, N.Y. - Nov. 3, 2011 - CreateSpace, part of the Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) group of companies, and MTV today announced that the first season of the critically acclaimed international sensation "Awkward." is coming to DVD exclusively via CreateSpace's DVD on Demand platform on November 14, 2011. In addition to the 12 half-hour episodes, the first season of "Awkward." on DVD will offer exciting special features for fans, including webisodes, behind-the-scenes tours of the set and wardrobe trailer as well as cast interviews about their characters and their real life most awkward high school moments.

"Awkward." is MTV's highest-rated new show to launch in the last two years, its highest-rated scripted show and the top show in its timeslot among females 12-34. "Awkward." will return for a second season in 2012.

"'Awkward.' has created fans around the globe, and we're happy that MTV chose CreateSpace to release this popular series on DVD for the first time," said Libby Johnson McKee, managing director of CreateSpace. "Because CreateSpace is an on-demand distribution platform, this title will never be out of stock and customers will always be able to catch the series on high-quality DVD."

Narrated in the first-person voice of the main character Jenna's blog posts, "Awkward." captures the humor within the struggles and experiences everyone can relate to from their formative years. The series picks up in the aftermath of the accident as she must deal with a new not-so-fun stigma, while at the same time managing the other daily drama that comes with being a teenager. From a secret relationship with a popular guy, to being undermined by a mean girl, and parents who just don't get it, Jenna's misfortune will eventually serve as the catalyst for amazing change, but it's not without some missteps and mishaps along the way.

"Awkward." stars Ashley Rickards ("One Tree Hill") as Jenna; Beau Mirchoff ("Desperate Housewives") as Matty; Molly Tarlov ("Huge," "iCarly") as Sadie; Jillian Rose Reed ("Weeds") as Tamara; Brett Davern ("Junk," "Triple Dog") as Jake; Nikki DeLoach ("North Shore," "Love and Other Drugs") as Lacey; Desi Lydic ("Traffic Light," "Two and a Half Men") as Valerie; Jessica Lu ("CSI," "Law & Order: Los Angeles") as Ming; Mike Faiola ("Seeing Other People") as Kevin; and Greer Grammer ("iCarly") as Lissa.

Using the CreateSpace DVD on Demand solution, networks such as MTV can rush their most sought-after content to the broadest possible audience much more efficiently and cost-effectively than through traditional methods of DVD distribution. Always in stock and available for quick shipping to customers, DVDs are manufactured only in response to customer demand. In addition, CreateSpace has the unique ability to distribute content through Amazon.com and other far-reaching channels, including Amazon Instant Video.
